Fleur de lin et bouton d'or - Antiques shop specialized in old haberdashery (1850 à 1950)
Fleur de Lin et Bouton d'Or is an antiques shop specialized in old haberdashery items set up in July 1998 and located in one of the older streets of the medieval town of Dinan, 30 kms from St Malo in Brittany.
A real treasure box where all articles are genuine and mostly french : no new items nor repros. If particularly involved in textiles crafts or embroidery, you'd be able to find in the shop collections all sorts of treasures no longer made as most date from 1850s to 1950s. Everything is subject to availability as many articles are rare.
Trimmings and ribbons in coloured cotton, rayon, linen or silk, woven or embroidered to embellish your crafts, hand-made or machine-made laces for dollmaking, soft-furnishing, interior design...all sold to your requirement (minimum ordrer 1 meter).
The shop also offers a wide choice of old buttons, small and large, in mother-of-pearl, wood, horn, leather, vegetal ivory, glass, ceramic, steel, celulloid...sold as sets or odds.
Plus a large amount of old fabrics of which linen, coarse hemp, silk and woven cotton with stripped and checked patterns like patchwork quarters from 1930s and all sorts of sewing items like needlework tools, threads, hat straw, flowers, feathers and hat-veil for millinery, cufflinks, belt-buckles, hand-bags, gloves, hatpins, all used to restore traditionnal costumes and even sometime whole pieces of costumes from 18th and 19th centuries.
To all these highly coloured items can be added a nice selection of household linen such as dish towels in pure linen (the famous french torchons with their red stripes), checked handkies for men in pure cotton or nicely laced edged white handkies for women as well as a few pieces of handmade whitework : doilies, tablecloths, serviettes, pillowcases and bedsheets all in pure linen.
It is very difficult to make a complete list of all the treasures offered by Fleur de lin et bouton d'or...for you to discover them all..on the website before coming to visit in Brittany where the decoration of the boutique is thought for with multidrawers units from old haberdashery shops. I have tried to give a bit of this ambience on the online catalog.
